Department of Home Affairs (DHA) – Updates on Student Visa Subclass 500/590 for ALL applicants.
Migration (LIN 19/198: Evidence of financial capacity—Subclass 500 Visa and Subclass 590 Visa) Instrument 2019 (Subclauses 500.214(4), 500.313(4) and 590.216(4) of Schedule 2)
As of 23 October 2019 the Australian government’s Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has increased the calculations for student visa financial requirement as follows:
Calculations based on annual financial requirement (i.e. proof of available funds in the bank)
a) For a primary applicant: an increase from $20,290AUD to $21,041AUD
b) For a spouse/de facto partner of the primary applicant: an increase from $7,100AUD to $7,362AUD
c) For a dependent child: an increase from $3,040AUD to $3,152AUD
d) Annual schooling for a child: an increase from $8,000AUD to $8,296AUD
For applicants using the “Annual income” option (i.e. proof of annual income from the local tax office)
a) Personal annual income, primary applicant only: an increase from $60,000AUD to $62,222AUD
b) Personal annual income for primary applicant with secondary applicant: an increase from $70,000AUD to $72,592AUD
